London in 2026 is, as always, the world hub of inspiring fashion exhibitions. In October, the National Portrait Gallery’s exploration of queer identity in Tim Walker’s fashion photographs opens on the same day as Tate Britain’s The 90s, a fashion and culture exhibition curated by Edward Enninful. But before all that is the V&A’s latest offering to the world of fashion: a comprehensive reflection on surrealist designer Schiaparelli’s work and its current run under American creative director Daniel Roseberry. Continuing the trend of curating fashion exhibitions alongside the art that inspired the clothes, expect to see the pieces they were influenced by alongside the couture creations. The V&A’s exhibitions often sell out so be sure to book ahead.

This is the first major exhibition dedicated to the six fashion designers responsible for putting Antwerp on the fashion map. Dirk Bikkembergs, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, and Marina Yee, who all studied together at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, presented their collections in 1986 at the British Designer Show, and the rest, they say, is history. In 2014 I was mesmerized by Dries Van Noten’s work at his standalone exhibition Inspirations at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, so I’m more than excited to see his work alongside his contemporaries and learn more about their influence on the wider fashion community we know today.
