Job Description:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Employment Specialist is a full-time, 35-hours-per-week, 52-week grant-funded position that reports to the Director of Career and Internship Services. This role requires strong knowledge and experience in job and internship placement, employer engagement, and career readiness support. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate data entry and reporting, assisting students with resume and cover letter development, supporting job and internship application processes, conducting career coaching sessions, and building partnerships with employers to expand employment opportunities for students.

QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred a Bachelor Degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of the team.
Demonstrated experience in working effectively with low income, underserved adult learners and high school dropout students.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
High level of customer service and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of clients at all levels.
Excellent conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others in a culturally sensitive and professional manner.
Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
RESPONSIBILITIES
Outreach to potential internship providers and employers to identify and secure internship and employment opportunities.
Create and maintain internship opportunities for Quincy College students.
Match and place students into internship or job placements positions.
Oversee placement and monitoring of students at internship/job sites and obtain employer feedback.
Facilitate workshops for students on topics related to job and career readiness and exploration skills/competency development (i.e., resume writing, interviewing skills, completing job applications).
Develop experiential learning opportunities for students in the form of job shadowing, internships and related experiences.
Facilitate seminar groups that meet weekly for students in internship placements.
Identify and develop linkages to on the job training programs and other related resources.
Collaborate with the Director of Career and Internship, Deans, faculty and program staff to identify potential internship opportunities.
Provide guidance and assistance to students in order to secure appropriate internship and job placement.
Lead the planning, implementing and marketing of the open house employment and internship events for students and employers.
Implement program procedures and services that will support the goals of the college concerning employment and internship outcomes.
Maintain accurate information of industry partners, job lead, applicants and internship placement statistics.
Establish, maintain and promote on and off campus relationships and partnerships with internship sites.
Create partnership plans and conduct site visits.
Work with VP of Workforce Development to conduct sector based workforce needs assessment to identify and prioritize internship needs and opportunities.
Collect and utilize pertinent data in decision-making and report regularly on program, services, accomplishments and challenges.
Assist in development of employer relations.
Produce reports including grant activity reports, payout reports, and other reports as needed for the AVP of Workforce Development and program teams
Participate in mandatory training/coursework; including but not limited to:
Title IX and Sexual Misconduct
Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination
Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting
FERPA
Municipal Ethics Law Assignment
Travel for both Quincy and Plymouth Campus as well as other local travel may be required.
