Job Summary
Provides strategic, operational, and visionary leadership for Cleveland State University (CSU) initiative that integrates experiential learning, employer engagement, career development, and continuing education to advance CSU’s mission as an urban, workforce-aligned anchor institution. The Talent Industry Hub is a transformational CSU initiative designed to unify and expand experiential learning; deepen employer partnerships; enhance career development; and strengthen Northeast Ohio’s talent pipeline. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in higher education, business administration, or related field.
- Seven (7) years of experience in career development, experiential learning, employer engagement, or equivalent student services area. Four (4) of the seven (7) years must be in a supervisory role.
- Experience building multi-sector partnerships and managing cross-functional teams, preferably in Northeast Ohio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in higher education, business administration, or related field.
- Experience with scaling work-based learning.
- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or talent management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Deep knowledge of experiential learning models, e.g., internships, co?ops, clinical placements, service learning, work?based learning frameworks.
- Understanding of higher education systems, including academic program structures, curriculum design, faculty governance, and student support infrastructure.
- Knowledge of regional workforce development ecosystems, especially employer needs, industry trends, and economic development priorities in Northeast Ohio.
- Knowledge of career development theory and practices, including career readiness competencies and advising structures.
- Knowledge of partnership development strategies, including public, private, and nonprofit collaborations.
- Strategic leadership and planning skills to build, scale, and sustain a university?wide initiative.
- Relationship?building and partnership?development skills with employers, nonprofits, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Program and project management skills, including the ability to manage complex, multi?year initiatives involving numerous stakeholders.
- Communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences including faculty, students, employers, alumni, donors, and external partners.
- Team leadership and staff supervision skills, including the ability to lead cross?functional teams and influence without authority.
- Change?management skills to align stakeholders around new processes and institutional transformations.
- Ability to design and implement scalable systems, including technology platforms, policies, and workflows that support work?integrated learning.
- Ability to translate regional workforce priorities into educational strategies that support both employer needs and student success.
- Ability to represent the institution professionally in high?profile regional workforce conversations and partnerships.
