Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Career Development and Engagement Coordinator supports the mission of the Murray State Career Services by advancing career readiness through event coordination, targeted marketing and outreach, data-informed assessment, and individualized career coaching.
- Coordinate logistics for presentations, seminars, events, and on-campus student recruiting initiatives (Racer Days, Orientations) that Career Services is involved in.
- Serve as a primary event liaison for campus partners
- Manage event timelines, communication plans, registration processes, and day-of-event operations.
- Ensure a high-quality experience for students and guests.
- Identify and implement strategies to increase student participation.
- Develop and execute marketing plans to promote career services programs and events.
- Create content for email campaigns, website updates, social media, and digital platforms, such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Collaborate with academic colleges and student organizations to expand outreach.
- Monitor engagement metrics and adjust strategies to improve participation.
- Track participation data and student engagement metrics.
- Maintain accurate records in the career management platform (Handshake).
- Generate reports to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic planning.
- Use data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improved student engagement.
- Analyze post-event surveys (Qualtrics).
- Provide individual and small-group career coaching appointments.
- Assist students with resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and job/internship search strategies.
- Help students connect academic experiences, internships, and experiential learning to career pathways.
- Present workshops and classroom presentations on career readiness topics.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of student interactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education RequirementsMinimum Experience and Skill Requirements
- Two years of professional work experience required.
- Evidence of exceptional interpersonal communication and public speaking skills and knowledge of current job search techniques that include preparation of resumes, cover letters, and interview skills.
- Demonstrated experience in managing promotions campaigns, social media platforms, and media concepts, production and publishing.
- Comfort with reporting and data analysis and dissemination.
- Must possess the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Evidence of experience with personal computers, including word-processing, spreadsheet, database management, and the internet.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- Degree in Business or Student Personnel preferred.
Hourly Rate/Annual Salary
$16.57 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)
Staff Grade: 105
Work Hours: Normal working hours.
Physical Demands
Normal for office environment. Occasional outdoor activities.
