CVC Capital Partners has appointed John Hourican as chief financial officer, succeeding Fred Watt.
Hourican, who previously filled the role of chief executive at UK credit provider NewDay, will officially start at CVC on 1 September 2026.

His experience and judgement will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve the firm.”
CVC’s chief executive, Rob Lucas, added Hourican is an “excellent cultural fit” for CVC due to his combination of strategic insight and operational discipline.

Hourican was previously also chief executive of the Bank of Cyprus and held senior leadership roles at Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO. He trained as a chartered accountant at PWC and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Watt, meanwhile, is set to remain a senior advisor to CVC after September 2026, following nearly 20 years at the firm.
