Job Description:
SUMMARY
Collaborates as a member of the Career Marketplace to provide individual and group career development services to Tri-C students and alumni that assists them in obtaining employment. Partners with full-time and adjunct faculty and instructors to support integration of career related assignments and events into the curriculum. Works with local, regional, and national employers to source experiential learning opportunities and part- and full-time employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coaches Tri-C students and alumni on internship and job search strategies including: the elevator pitch, networking skills, informational interviews, mock interviews, resume, and cover letter reviews, along with other career development tools and strategies.
- Provides individual coaching to students to create customized, long-term career development plans, develop key competencies necessary to make informed decisions, and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals.
- May coordinate and facilitate experiential learning and employment opportunities for students that align with their academic studies.
- Develops content, conducts workshops, and class informational sessions on a variety of topics to include career exploration, resume writing, interviewing, internships/job search strategies, networking tactics, and ethics in the workplace.
- Leverages the College’s Schools, Academies, and various other college partners to develop a portfolio of students, using a case management approach to work with students based on School and Academy.
- Works directly with faculty and instructors from Schools and aligning Academy to integrate career exploration activities and assignments into the curriculum.
- Builds and maintains effective relationships with faculty, and, upon their request, facilitates an Career Marketplace overview of services and resources to academic program classes as a marketing, communications, and recruitment vehicle.
- Gathers and reports data for Career Marketplace regarding coaching appointments, classroom presentations, workshops, internships, and part- and full-time employment.
- Partners with the College’s Student Experience division, including student affairs, enrollment, and athletics to develop and provide career development services to students.
- Collaborates with the College’s Community Impact division, including the adult diploma program, and international services and programs to develop case management of students.
- Supports student success and engagement efforts at each campus by involvement in enrollment activities, retention initiatives, and other campus events.
- May identify employers that provide experiential learning opportunities, part-time, and full-time employment for students.
- Ay proactively cultivate relationships with small, mid-size, and large employers and emerging growth industries; positively maintain all associated relationships, building a “book of business” generating experiential learning and job leads.
- Drives the use of the Career Marketplace online job posting network as a recruiting resource for employers.
- Uses Handshake CRM for case management and communications.
- Promotes all of the College’s talent pipelines to employers and emerging growth industries.
- Designs and coordinates networking initiatives, special events, and career fairs that assist students and alumni in finding employment opportunities.
- May conduct employer satisfaction surveys and recommend program upgrades and enhancements based on employer feedback.
- Represents Career Marketplace office to a wide variety of community organizations, professional associations, government agencies, non-profit entities, and partners in higher education to provide a professional presence supporting the College’s brand.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Significant related experience may substitute for education.
- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in a progressively accountable role related to talent acquisition, staffing/placement, employee development, career coaching/consulting, and/or fields related to career development services.
- Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team.
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Possess working knowledge of career services concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus.
- Ability to proficiently use a variety of internet tools and social networking sites as an employment sourcing tool.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
- Master’s degree in human resources, business administration, adult development, student development, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in a higher education career services function.
- Demonstrated experience working with a variety of industries in the private sector.

- Must be willing to work a student friendly schedule, which likely includes evenings and weekends.
- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
- The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
- The employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and may perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there will be walking; standing; bending; stooping; and carrying various items and equipment.
- Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 11, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of: $30/hour.
