Schroders Capital has appointed Bob Paterson as head of European asset-based finance (ABF) and significant risk transfer (SRT) investments on its private debt & credit alternatives team.
The role is a senior leadership position within the securitised product and ABF business, reporting to Michelle Russell-Dowe, co-head of the team and global head of SP&ABF.

In the newly created role, Paterson will lead the origination and execution of European, UK and Australian ABF as well as SRT transactions. As a senior investment leader on the team based in London, Paterson will also oversee European and UK Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) activity.
The new hire comes as the team continues to identify areas where capital can be deployed attractively across a continuum from investment grade to opportunistic income, it said in a release. The team’s AUM has surpassed $22bn.

Paterson brings over 25 years of experience in the UK, Europe and the US, with a strong track record in origination, distribution and capital raising across complex structured credit strategies. He joins Schroders Capital from Manulife CQS Investment Management, where he played a key role in building the firm’s ABF platform.
He previously spent over a decade at Lloyds Bank in senior roles, including managing director and head of credit sales.
