TPR rehires two non-executive directors

The Pensions Regulator’s (TPR) has reappointed two non-executive directors to its board.

This decision was approved by secretary of state for work and pensions Mel Stride.

The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed that Katie Kapernaros and Chris Morson will be re-appointed as non-executive directors for another four years, starting 1 April 2024.

Their first term in the role will end on 31 March 2024 while Morson will continue his role as chair of TPR’s audit, risk and assurance committee.

Kapernaros has worked for IBM for 22 years and is also a non-executive director for the National Health Service and The Property Ombudsman.

Morson has previously been a non-executive director and audit committee member at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency from 2013-2020.

Also at HM Land Registry from 2018-2020 he was interim chair of the audit committee and a member of remuneration committee. He is also a non-executive director at Royal London Asset Management.

TPR chair Sarah Smart said: “I am delighted that Katie and Chris have been reappointed. They both have a diverse combination of background and skills that will be really important for us as we develop the next phase of our Corporate Strategy and progress our journey to becoming a data-led and digitally enabled regulator.”

Kapernaros added: “I am very happy to be appointed for another term at TPR. We have much to do in the transformation and value-for-money space, and I look forward to continuing to add my experience to the great mix of skills we have on the board.”

Morson also said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to continue to serve on the TPR board. I’ll be focused on helping TPR become more digitally and service focused to deliver value for money as part of its corporate objectives.”

TPR is the regulator of work-based pension schemes in the UK.
