When is Prime Day 2023? Official Dates Have Been Announced

Good news for deal-seeking shoppers: Amazon announced a Prime Big Deal Days is coming this October. This savings event is similar to Amazon Prime Day, which took place this past July and featured some of the retailer’s best deals of the year on everything from luggage and electronics to home goods and shoes. This October 10 and 11, Prime members can enjoy major savings once again with Prime Big Deal Days.

Whether you’ve got a wish list ready or are new to the retail giant’s mega-deals, we’ve put together a quick rundown of everything you need to know to make the most of this October’s Amazon sale—including editor-recommended favorites to consider adding to your travel gear haul. We’ll continue to update this page with new information as it comes in, so be sure to check back here so you don’t miss out on any of the best deals.

This article has been updated with new information since its original publish date.

What is Prime Day?

In case you’ve been blissfully unaware of the shopping holiday mayhem that is Amazon Prime Day, let’s get you up to speed: Amazon Prime Day is an annual 48-hour event that typically happens once a year, in which Amazon discounts thousands of products across every single category. Last year, Amazon offered the Early Access Sale—a second chance for shoppers to take advantage of Prime Day–like savings well before Black Friday—for the first time. As you can imagine, shoppers were eager to get a jumpstart on their holiday shopping. Amazon is bringing back its October savings event for a second time, albeit with a new name: Prime Big Deal Days. Tech and home sales tend to be the most popular during these events—and amount to the biggest savings—but we’re also expecting to see discounts on clothing and shoes, luggage, beauty products, outdoor gear, and family travel essentials.

When is Prime Day 2023?

Mark your calendars: Amazon’s second Prime Day of the year, officially dubbed the Prime Big Deal Days, will take place on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11.

Do I have to be a member to participate?

Yes, you do have to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of these deals. Membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year (college students get a discounted rate), but you can sign up for a free 30-day trial here to try it out without committing to a full year. If you do keep your Prime membership account, you’ll have access to same-day, one-day, and two-day shipping on millions of products, two-hour grocery delivery via Whole Foods, Prime’s Try Before You Buy program, and more.

What sales can I expect?

During Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days, you’ll find a variety of can’t-miss sales: Lightning Deals, which only run for a few hours; Deals of the Day, which run for one specific day; and Best Deals, which extend beyond the two-day sale. There will likely be deals on Amazon devices and discounts across all categories, including luggage, clothing and shoes, tech accessories, outdoor gear, beauty products, home goods, and more. Consider this the calm before the storm: It’s a perfect time to get a head start on your holiday shopping before the madness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Once the holidays roll around, many in-demand products from top brands may be out of stock, so if you see something you really want on sale, don’t hesitate to add it to your cart. Take a look at some of the best deals from Amazon Prime Day in July 2023.
