The founder and former chief executive of Novia, Bill Vasilieff, has died.
Vasilieff died suddenly and peacefully yesterday (19th November) at the age of 68, surrounded by his family.
He was originally the founder of the Selestia platform in 2001, before founding Novia in 2007.
Vasilieff stepped back from Novia in 2021 after it had been bought by private equity firm AnaCap but he remained chairman of Novia Global.
This year he came out of retirement to become chair of the UK arm of Swedish wealth manager Söderberg & Partners.
Söderberg & Partners described Vasilieff as a “true innovator and pioneer in the financial services sector whose impact and influence were widespread.
“His meticulous work ethic spanned many decades across multiple industries.
“His impact and loss will be deeply felt in many spheres.”
He was a lifelong Bath Rugby supporter and raised “considerable” amounts over the years for Bath Rugby Foundation.
Despite being “an industry legend”, his true passion and drive was for his family “whom he always put first. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.”
