A popular classic car show in London has moved to a new location 30 miles away so attendees don’t have to pay Ultra Low Emission Zone charges.

Bromley Pageant of Motoring, previously held at Norman Park, has been moved to the South of England Showground in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

When the ULEZ was expanded to included Bromley in August 2023, organisers cancelling this year’s event – which would have been held in July – as they considered solutions.

Eventually, it was decided that the pageant would have to move outside the M25 to find a ULEZ-free venue which still boasted all the required facilities.

While most of the cars attending the event would not have to pay the £12.50 charge anyway, due to being over 40 years old, some modern classic car drivers would have had to stump up.

Organisers Pippa and Jason Griffiths said in a statement on social media: ‘Following the introduction of the ULEZ zone across Greater London, we have taken considerable time to evaluate all options for the future of the Bromley Pageant of Motoring, including whether it would be viable to still hold the Pageant at Norman Park, Bromley.’

They added that the decision ‘wasn’t an easy one’ and that they had hopes that the new location would allow the popular event to ‘thrive’.

A statement on the Bromley Pageant of Motoring website said: ‘It wasn’t an easy decision to make after being held at Norman Park for so long, however, it was the support of everyone who exhibited and visited that made the event what it was, and we truly believe that its spirit will thrive at the excellent new venue.

‘The new event will be bigger and better, offering a fantastic motoring show for owners and enthusiasts of classic cars covering all eras and all makes and models.’

The new venue was selected due to its offering of ‘all the facilities’ needed to stage the event, along with it being outside the ULEZ zone with access to the M23.

Tickets can be booked online for the July 27, 2025 event at the early bird prices of £11.29 for an adult, £5.94 for a child and £30.54 for a family of four.

Attendees will also be able to camp at the new site on the Saturday evening before the event, with a range of facilities including disability access, toilet blocks and water taps, as well as an indoor trade area for stands.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s office has been contacted for comment.

The expansion of the ULEZ zone caused considerable controversy, with Bromley locals and others across the capital who bemoaned the costs.

Protests have been organised since the expansion was first reported and have also continued since it was rolled out last year.

And so-called ‘Blade Runners’ have even taken to sabotaging cameras – with several incidents happening in the borough of Bromley.

As recently as this August, masked vigilantes have been seen sawing down the cameras which are integral to the mayor’s controversial scheme.

One shocking video showed a suspected ‘Blade Runner’ in Uxbridge axing a ULEZ camera to the ground.

Before the man dressed in all black begins hacking his way through pole with an electric saw, another individual filming can be heard saying: ‘ULEZ about to be on the deck.’

After the metal pole crashes to the ground, the saboteur goes in for round two slicing away beneath the camera.

The man then flees the scene carrying the camera away while waving his saw in the air in victory.

An anonymous member of the gang vowed a year ago to continue destroying the cameras until the scheme was scrapped.

In an interview with TalkTV last October, the masked maverick – who used Ben as a fake name – claimed to have wrecked 150 of the traffic cameras since they were expanded across the capital’s boroughs two months earlier.

He claimed he had been behind a near total blackout of enforcement cameras in the Bromley area.
