GCP Infrastructure appoints National Wealth Fund exec to board


Gravis Capital’s GCP Infrastructure Investments has appointed the National Wealth Fund’s Ian Brown to its board as a non-executive director.

Brown has also been appointed as a member of the investment committee, the management engagement committee, and the sustainability committee.

He has more than 35 years’ experience in banking and investments, and is currently head of banking and investments at the £27.8bn National Wealth Fund, where he is responsible for the origination and execution of its lending and investing activities.

Before joining the National Wealth Fund, Brown was head of private markets at LGPS Central, where he established a number of infrastructure, private equity and private credit funds of funds.

He has also held senior leadership roles at Lloyds Banking Group and was a member of Lloyds’ credit committee for 14 years.

“Ian will bring core strengths and a wealth of relevant experience which will ensure that the evolving board maintains the required complementary range of skills, as we continue the implementation of our capital allocation programme and strategy,” said Andrew Didham, chairman of GCP.

Brown’s appointment was announced at the latest GCP Infrastructure Investments annual general meeting.

During the meeting, it was also confirmed that Alex Yew, a non-executive director, would become chair of the investment committee with effect from 13 February 2025.

Michael Gray has retired as a non-executive director and as chairman of the investment committee.

“I would like to thank Michael for his invaluable support, dedicated service and contribution to the company over the past 10 years,” added Didham.

“The board would like to wish Michael continued success in the future.”
