Mayer Brown has boosted its structured finance practice with the appointment of two Kirkland & Ellis lawyers.

Rudgee S. Charles and Jeff O’Connor have both joined the law firm’s banking and finance practice.

Charles joins Mayer Brown’s New York office as a partner. He is active in both the public and private capital markets with experience in warehouse financings, trade receivables financings, private placements, oil and gas securitisations and asset-backed securities offerings.

He also advises clients on complex offering issues, regulatory matters, securities laws and corporate governance matters.

“I’m very excited about joining Mayer Brown and its globally integrated structured finance practice,” he said. “The firm’s extensive experience across various asset classes and its deep bench of partners are unparalleled in the industry.”

Meanwhile, O’Connor joins the firm’s Chicago office as counsel, bringing decades of securitisation experience.

“We are delighted to welcome Rudgee and Jeff to our banking and finance practice,” said Brad Keck, global co-lead of Mayer Brown’s banking and finance practice. “Their experience aligns perfectly with our strategic focus on securitization products, which are in high demand across private equity and private credit, as well as other key areas.”

Mayer Brown employs nearly 150 structured finance lawyers globally, with expertise across conduits, collateralised debt obligations, collateralised fund obligations, derivatives and synthetic markets.
