The verdict.
I’ve got a few pricier pairs of sunglasses I rotate, but I like having a cheaper pair I don’t have to baby: something I can throw on, test a new shape, or for times I’m going somewhere or doing something where I don’t want to put the nicer pair at risk. I included these $17 no-name Amazon sunglasses in last week’s Getup and liked them enough to call out some details.
The browline is more squared than a classic Wayfarer, and the arms connect slightly lower on the frame. That shift avoids the cat eye effect some sunglasses in this genre have. The overall vibe’s similar to styles from the more premium-priced RAEN, just cheaper.
The feel and weight of the plastic also feels more like a nice pair than the gas station options you’ve seen.
I also took note that the arms have visible metal inside, which looks cool and hopefully increases durability. I can’t recall seeing that in my other cheaper pairs.
If you remember Matt Damon’s champagne sunglasses in Ford v Ferrari, these hit that same idea. Not identical, less yellow, more brown, but they’re in the same lane. Easy to wear for most guys’personal styles, good with everything.
If you want something for summer that looks sharp and costs less than lunch, this is the move.
