Coming Soon: Bilt Points for UWM Mortgage Payments

If you have a mortgage with United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) — the largest mortgage lender in the U.S. — you may soon have a new way to earn Bilt Points.

Starting in early 2026, the mortgage lender’s customers will be able to earn Bilt points with each on-time payment. Services will be added in a phased rollout, according to the issuer’s announcement on Oct. 14, 2025.

Best known for offering rewards on rent, Bilt began teasing the ability to earn points on mortgage payments after receiving a major investment from UWM in July 2025. But the new setup is a little more restrictive than people may have been expecting. The benefit will only apply to UWM mortgages, not mortgages in general.

Still, this could be a big deal for eligible customers. Mortgage payments are major monthly expenses that typically don’t earn points. And Bilt points can be valuable, especially when transferred to programs like World of Hyatt. Some homeowners who once dismissed Bilt as a program for renters might be taking a second look now.

Complete list of Bilt transfer partners

What we still don’t know

So far, Bilt has been very light on details about this partnership. Here’s what hasn’t yet been announced:

NerdWallet rating

NerdWallet’s ratings are determined by our editorial team. The scoring formula incorporates coverage options, customer experience, customizability, cost and more.

  • The launch date. We know that this program will start in early 2026, but we don’t have an exact date.

  • The earn rate. We know that UWM customers will have the opportunity to earn points on their mortgage payments, but we don’t know how many points per dollar.

  • Eligibility requirements. We don’t know if all UWM customers are eligible or if Bilt will have any exclusions.

Still, we can look at Bilt’s existing program for renters to get an idea of what we might expect from this new partnership.

Currently, Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card holders can earn 1 point per $1 spent on rent with no transaction fees, up to 100,000 points per calendar year. The card must be used five times per statement period to earn points on rent and qualifying net purchases (purchases minus returns/credits) for that statement period. If you don’t make at least five transactions in a statement period, you’ll earn a flat 250 points when you use your Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card to pay rent through the Bilt app or website.

Noncardholders can also earn rewards on rent by making payments with linked credit cards, debit cards and bank accounts to Bilt Rewards, but the earn rates are less generous, and transaction fees apply.

Other options for homeowners

When the Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card launched, it was the first mainstream U.S. credit card that let people earn points on rent with no transaction fees. But it’s not the first card to offer rewards on mortgage payments.

The $0-annual-fee Mesa Homeowners Card has had this feature since it launched in November 2024, and unlike Bilt’s new benefit, it’s not limited to just one mortgage lender. Cardholders can earn 1 point per $1 spent on mortgage payments with any lender, up to 100,000 points annually.

To be clear, you’re not actually paying your mortgage with this card to earn rewards. Instead, you link your bank account to your Mesa account and make at least $1,000 in other card purchases during the same statement period to earn rewards on your mortgage transaction. Like Bilt, the Mesa Homeowners Card allows cardholders to transfer points to certain transfer partners, though they currently do not partner with any U.S.-based airlines.

If Bilt expands its future benefit to include other lenders, it could rival Mesa’s offerings.
