Cirencester Friendly has announced the promotion of Ben Howe to chief operating officer (COO), with Shirley Fell set to retire.
Howe moves from director of strategy and transformation, and will start his new role on 1 November.
After almost seven years with the provider, Fell has been instrumental in driving strategic change. This has resulted in the overhaul of operating models and the successful implementation of a new online platform.
As COO, Howe will be responsible for customer operations, business change and transformation, and technology. He will also become a member of the board.
“I hope to make the most of the momentum that has been built, ensuring the society continues to deliver excellent service and value to its members,” he said.
“Cirencester Friendly has ambitious plans for growth, and I’ll relish playing a full role in helping to meet these objectives.”

Andy Morris, CEO of Cirencester Friendly, added: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Shirley, and I know I speak for all our colleagues in wishing her the very best of luck for what will undoubtedly be a busy next chapter.
“Ben has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership, a deep understanding of our business and a strong commitment to delivering for our members.
