Digital advice platform Dynamic Planner has become the first in its sector to achieve the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 AI Management Systems certification, signalling a significant move to formalise its AI governance.
The firm stated the certification aligns with its strategic focus on maximising the “transformational power of AI and data” at what it calls a “watershed moment” for the investment and financial planning industry.
To support this push, Dynamic Planner has made three strategic appointments.
Dr Priya Sinha has joined as data scientist, Thorfinn Maciver has taken on the new role of head of technical innovation & cyber security, and Claire Thomas joins as governance & operations partner.
Dynamic Planner highlighted that its technical teams now include doctorates and master’s degrees across data science, behavioural science, computer science and financial analytics, positioning the business to lead the industry as it becomes increasingly data-driven.
The Big Picture: When AI meets advice – innovation or compliance minefield?
Ben Goss, CEO of Dynamic Planner, said: “The transformative power of AI and data is a watershed moment, shaping the investment and financial planning industry. Certification to ISO/IEC 42001 formalises our continued commitment to responsible AI governance.
“It gives advisers, wealth managers and asset managers independent third-party assurance that our AI-enabled processes are managed under an internationally recognised framework for ethics, transparency and robust risk management.”
Goss directly linked the certification to regulatory requirements, adding: “In an industry where trust and regulatory compliance like Consumer Duty are paramount, we can prove our proactive commitment to the secure, fair and responsible application of AI.
“This gives our partners demonstrable confidence in the integrity of the tools they rely on to determine client suitability and outcomes.
“We have spent many years automating advice processes, grounded in firm policies… Shaping our own business even further around this new AI and data-driven world with these strategic new appointments will enable us to fully unlock the potential of this transformative change.”
Dynamic Planner is currently used by almost half of UK advice firms, serving over two million investors and profiling more than £100bn of assets. Its modelling is also used by the FCA.
The platform’s AI features are designed to augment existing automation and use ‘Agentic AI’ to drive processes via its Open API.
The firm operates under its own AI Charter, which it says ensures human oversight, data protection and the prevention of bias.
