Legal & General has appointed Donna Cowell to the newly created role of head of reinsurance for its UK protection business.
She will work across L&G’s retail and group protection arms to develop a joined up reinsurance strategy and report to Pippa Keefe, commercial director of retail protection.
Cowell brings almost 25 years of financial services experience and joins from Willis Towers Watson, where she was a director in the firm’s life insurance consulting and technology division, specialising in protection and reinsurance.
L&G said Cowell will play a key role in shaping its protection strategy, including working with reinsurers to improve value for customers through stronger risk management, better data insights and distribution quality.
