Oaktree Capital Management has appointed James Lindsay as managing director, head of UK institutional as part of its European capital formation team.
Lindsay will be responsible for business development across the UK institutional market, amid growing demand from pension funds and insurers in the country for alternative investments.
He joins Oaktree from Natixis Investment Management, where he was most recently director, head of UK corporate defined benefit (DB) and insurance. Earlier in his career, Lindsay worked at Legal & General Investment Management, managing relationships with large UK DB and defined contribution pension schemes.

Lindsay will be based in Oaktree’s London office and will report to Peter Preisler, head of Europe and Africa, capital formation, at the $218bn (£161.3bn) alternative investment manager.

The appointment follows the hiring of Ethan Allen as a vice president in the capital formation group in June last year, with a focus on developing the firm’s UK institutional client business.
Oaktree also announced an expansion of its private debt team earlier this week, appointing James Greenwood as senior adviser and Kieran Thind as senior vice president.
