SUMMARY:
The Center for Student Success (CSS) at Rowan-Virtua SOM
provides academic and career advising services for medical students in years one through four. CSS prides itself for being highly
collaborative advocates who are deeply invested in the success of all students. CSS values candidates with experience working in settings
with students from diverse backgrounds and a strong commitment to contributing to the success of historically underrepresented and
underserved students.
The Assistant Director for Career and Match Advising is a full-time professional who engages with students
individually and in groups to help them develop career plans and strategies for successful matching into preferred residency programs. This
position will develop and implement career advising programming across all four years of medical school with an emphasis on third- and
fourth-year medical students as they prepare for residency applications and the residency match process. This position will provide
strategic communication and coordination of Match information and data reporting. This position will develop best practices for the career
advising of medical students directly and through the training of MSPE Advisors and others.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
- Assist Director and Associate Director of CSS in department management, programming, training and
development. - Develop, deliver and assess a four-year continuum of Career Advising and Programming (CAP) to guide personal
discovery, unlock opportunities, and promote successful, fulfilling careers. - Train pre-clerkship advisors on early intervention
strategies for first- and second-year career advising. - Advise third-year students and develop programming around the Match process
and increasing residency application competitiveness. - Coordinate the Essentials for Success and the Road to Residency half-day
programs focused on fourth-year planning, collaborating with Clinical Education and the Registrar. - Guide students through residency
application platforms including ERAS, ResCas, and SF Match. - Advise four-year students before and after applying for the Match,
focusing on application review, interview preparation and overcoming at-risk factors. - Coordinate the CV Review process, Personal
Statement Review Process, and Mock Interview Program. - Manage and assess internal Match data to identify and support at-risk
students. - Develop and update resources on CSS canvas page for Career/Match Resources, including the Rowan-Virtua SOM Match guide,
an annual report on institutional and national Match data. - Supervise and train CSS part-time Residency Advisor(s) in Match advising
and review of residency application items. - Information Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE) Advisors and CSS Advisors on
updates from AACOM’s Council on Residency Placement, changes in the Match process and best practices in successful Match advising. - Participate in committee meetings as needed.

Education and Experience:
Required qualifications: Master’s degree in
counseling, psychology, education, social work, or a related field. Strong background in academic advising and career advising specifically
with at-risk student populations within a higher education setting. Highly collaborative, innovative, motivated, and strong work ethic.
The following qualifications are preferred but not required: Experience in advising pre-medical students, medical students, or
graduate students.
SALARY INFORMATION
In compliance with The State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act,
the annual base salary range for this position is $68,215.00 to $81,855.00, with placement within the range determined by candidate’s
qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
