As an assistant director of industry relations, you will develop, implement, and evaluate a strategy to increase on-ground company recruitment through individual visits and events, with continual improvement. Collaboration with the office for career and alumni success (CAS) and other internal departments is required to plan, host, and manage successful employer visits. You will serve as a SCAD ambassador, hosting tours for industry and alumni guests regularly to strengthen industry relationships and promote further engagement with SCAD. Among other duties, you will identify and generate internship and career opportunities with regional employers, build effective working relationships with all SCAD academic and administrative departments focused on external relations, and liaise with CAS departments at all SCAD locations to implement a consistent industry relations strategy.
In this role, you will supervise the CAS industry relations team, consisting of both professional and student staff, which manages the online SCAD Job Portal and recruitment events. Responsibilities include the design and implementation of procedures for efficient scheduling and business operations and the management of employer contacts and visit outcomes in the CRM database and with other SCAD departments. You will monitor expenditures for budgetary compliance, serve as the first point of contact for new potential employers, and support on-ground recruitment activities such as Career Fair, SCAD HireWire, and industry-specific events.
The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail oriented. They demonstrate a strong understanding of creative industries and talent acquisition needs.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in design, business, public relations, communications, or a related field
- At least three years of experience in high-level project management, customer service, event management, sales, external relations, fundraising, PR, or a related field
- Prior work as a project lead, with external stakeholders, and understanding partners’ goals
- Able to work nights and weekends as scheduled
