Boston Is Getting a New Direct Flight to Hawaii—With Lie-Flat Business Class Seats

Travelers in New England will soon be able to fly nonstop all the way to the Hawaiian Islands, thanks to the revival of an old Delta Air Lines’ route.

The carrier just announced it will be resuming its direct service between Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) later this year. At 5,095 miles and nearly 12 hours long, the route holds the title of the longest domestic flight in the US.

Delta first launched flights from Boston to Honolulu in November 2024, but the airline ended up suspending the route after just a few months in April 2025 due to lackluster demand. Hawaiian Airlines also canceled its daily flight on the same route in 2025, citing similarly weak demand from fliers. Many airlines trimmed their domestic schedules last year, as economic concerns around shifting tariff policies caused price-sensitive travelers to hold off on buying flights.

Now, with demand for long-haul leisure travel rebounding, Delta is resuming America’s longest flight on a seasonal basis. Starting December 19, 2026, the airline will relaunch nonstop flights from Boston to Honolulu for the winter season. Flights will operate daily during the peak holiday travel period through late December and then drop to four flights per week for the rest of the winter.

Delta will use its Airbus A330-300 planes on the resumed route. The narrow-body jets have a four-cabin layout, including a Delta One business class cabin with 34 lie-flat seats all with direct access to the aisle. The swanky seats also include Missoni-branded amenity kits, bedding, socks and slippers, as well as multi-course meals with dishes from Chef José Andrés and beloved purveyors like Shake Shack.

Delta’s Premium Select and Comfort Plus cabins will also be available on the route. If you can’t swing business class but still want a roomier option for your cross-country journey, the carrier’s popular premium economy product offers larger seats and additional amenities like a hot towel and welcome drink.

Boston isn’t the only US city getting new Delta flights to Hawaii. The carrier is also launching a brand new route from Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG) on December 19, 2026. The nonstop route will see five flights per week during the winter season, also on board Delta’s A330-300 planes.

Elsewhere, Delta is planning to add more flights and larger planes on some of its key existing routes to Hawaii. Starting April 1, 2026, the airline will increase service on its route between New York-JFK and Honolulu to a daily flight operated on board its Boeing 767-300 planes. Delta’s route between Salt Lake City (SLC) and the Big Island’s Kona Airport (KOA), as well as its Detroit (DTW) to Honolulu route will also get daily service starting on November 9, 2026.

With all of the upcoming expansions on the horizon, Delta says winter 2026 will see its largest-ever Hawaii flight schedule yet.
