Carlyle has announced a partnership with SBI Private Equity Holdings (SBI) to expand alternative credit opportunities for Japanese institutional investors.
The partnership will develop a multi-strategy private credit platform, including direct lending, structured and opportunistic credit as well as asset-backed finance, giving Japanese investors access to alternative markets in the US and Europe.
The deal marks SBI’s first full-scale entry into the private credit space, with the Japanese equity business providing initial capital for the new strategy.
