Job Description:
The Director leads and facilitates all aspects of F&M’s robust STEM professions advising
program.
Essential Functions:
- Provide students and alumni involved in the pursuit of STEM professions knowledgeable
guidance and relevant advice on the academic and experiential requirements to succeed in the pursuit of careers in this industry. - Serve as the primary point-of-contact for employers hiring in this industry, F&M alumni established in and knowledgeable about
this industry, and programs offering advanced degrees that are applicable to work within this industry, and connect these stakeholders in
meaningful ways that support the mission of F&M’s Center for Career & Professional Development. - Guide students and alumni
through the professional school application process, including, without limitation, application materials, entrance examinations, personal
statements and interviews, as well as general guidance on professional school financing. - Design/deliver and facilitate programs,
workshops, and events that enhance students’ knowledge about this industry, provide access to opportunities for internships, part-time jobs,
and full-time employment, assist in the professional discernment process, and improve students’ competitiveness as candidates for
internships, careers, and advanced degree programs. - All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- At least 4 years of direct experience teaching, coaching,
advising and/or mentoring individuals interested in related professions. - Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication
skills. - Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
- Evidence of a commitment to community
& belonging. - Successful interview.
- Successful completion of background checks.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree.
- 5 or more years of direct experience teaching, coaching, advising and/or mentoring
individuals interested in related professions. - Prior experience in STEM-industry.
- Prior experience in a Higher Education
setting.
Additional Information:
