Progeny has announced it will be hosting a summer school programme for 16 to 18-year-olds that will offer an “insight” into financial planning.
The advice firm is based in Leeds and offers independent financial planning, investment management and tax services.
The summer school will run from the 7 to 11 August 2023 and is designed for students around the Leeds area.
The summer school will also offer skill-based sessions to help prepare students for the world of work, as well as CV writing and interview skills workshops.
Progeny held its first summer school in 2022 which it deemed “successful”.
Its head of advice quality Sarika Dhanjal said: “I’m delighted that Progeny is making this opportunity an annual event. Last year was our first experience of hosting a summer school and we had such positive feedback from our attendees.
“Financial services is not the most visible career option for students, especially young women, so we want to help change that and our programme is timed to coincide with when students are making a decision about their future direction.”
The application deadline for the summer school is 1 July.
In March 2023 Progeny appointed Caroline Hawkesley to the role of UK managing director.
The appointment is part of a restructure to strengthen the position of the business in the UK market and prepare it for future international growth.
Hawkesley moved from her previous role as chief operations officer in the business.
She began her career in the banking industry before co-founding her own financial advisory firm, Evolve. When this was acquired by Progeny in 2018 she went on to head up the operations team.
In her new role, she will manage and direct Progeny’s activities in the UK, as the business continues to develop its distinctive, multi-disciplinary professional services platform.
