PROGRAM ASSOCIATE FOR WORKFORCE INNOVATION
HOURLY 29 HOURS PER WEEK
The Program Associate is responsible for supporting the college’s credit for prior learning (CPL), microcredential initiatives, as well as the activities required for the SUNY Cannabis Workforce Development grant. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Workforce Innovation, this position will support the student onboarding process for microcredentials and the support of students as they apply for credit through the CPL process. The Program Associate will also support the recruitment of students for both initiatives through the facilitation of information sessions and workshops. This role will also be responsible for providing student-centered services and supporting outreach that prepares students to enter workforce-aligned academic and career pathways.
This position is responsible for the facilitation of workshops, employer roundtables, and information to support the work of the SUNY Cannabis Workforce Development grant through the Hudson Valley Education Workforce Consortium: Cannabis Industry. There is an expectation to support employer partnerships, connect students with job opportunities in the industry, and provide data to contribute to reporting outcomes.
Essential Functions:
- Support implementation of activities associated with the SUNY Cannabis Workforce Development Grant, ensuring alignment with grant goals, deliverables, and reporting requirements
- Facilitate workshops, information sessions, and educational programming related to:
- Career pathways in the regulated cannabis industry
- Workforce entry requirements and credential expectations
- Academic pathways aligned to cannabis workforce preparation
- Coordinate and participate in educational and workforce programming delivered in collaboration with external cannabis industry organizations and workforce training entities
- Support student preparation for employment opportunities within the cannabis workforce sector through career readiness programming and resource navigation
- Encourage and support student transition into employment opportunities aligned with grant-supported workforce sectors
- Facilitate micro-credential and CPL workshops and information sessions for prospective students, with a focus on adult learners, returning students, and non-traditional student populations
- Provide group and individual transition-to-matriculation support for students entering degree or certificate programs after completion of micro-credentials and credit for prior learning
- Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and current students participating in the CPL and micro-credential initiatives
- Provide individualized student support to assist learners in understanding academic requirements, institutional processes, and available student support services
- Support onboarding processes for students pursuing credit for prior learning and micro-credentials in alignment with institutional policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student interactions and program participation
- Assist with data collection, tracking, and reporting for grant-funded workforce initiatives, including participation, completion, credential attainment, and employment outcomes
- Assist with credential validation workflows in coordination with the Associate Director of Workforce Innovation
- Participate in recruitment and outreach events, including community-based events and educational partner sites, as assigned
- Collaborate with internal academic and student support offices to coordinate student services and program implementation
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of workforce innovation and microcredential and credit for prior learning initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree and two (2) years of administrative, student services, workforce development, or program support experience or Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of related experience
- Experience working in higher education, adult education, or student support services
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, project management, and data tracking skills
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to off-site locations, as required

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including adult learners and non-traditional students
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments while working independently when needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information or data management systems
- Ability to adapt to evolving program, grant, and regulatory requirements
Starting Salary: $25.00 – $30.00 Hour
