Samsung’s Ultrawide Odyssey G9 Monitors Are Down to Their Lowest Prices Ever for Labor Day

Ultrawide monitors are an excellent balance between the screen real estate of a dual-monitor setup with the convenience of a single display. And Samsung’s Odyssey G9 line has some of the best monitors of this type you can get. For this Labor Day, two versions—the OLED and VA LCD models—are both on sale for their respective lowest prices ever.

First up, we have the Odyssey G9 OLED model, which sports a QD-OLED panel for perfect black levels and sharp contrast, a 5120×1440 resolution (the equivalent of two 1440p monitors next to each other), and it has a 240Hz refresh rate, making it excellent for gaming. In my experience playing games like Overwatch 2, ultrawide monitors are genuinely more useful for the extra peripheral vision. The 1800R curvature brings the sides of the display closer to you, without feeling overwhelmed by the monitor.

Right now, the OLED model is down to $900 from its usual $1,600. It’s not the first time it’s gone on sale, but it’s only the second time I’ve seen it this low.

Next, there’s the LCD version of the Odyssey G9. This display is substantially similar to the above model, with the same 49″ ultrawide display, same 5120×1440 resolution, and same 240Hz refresh rate for smooth gaming. The most notable difference is its LCD panel, which doesn’t quite get the same perfect black levels as OLED, but is also quite a bit cheaper.

One other key difference is the curvature. At 1000R, this monitor is significantly more curved than the OLED version. Whether that’s a good thing can be subjective, but it means the sides of the monitor are even closer to you. Depending on how you use it, this can mean less eye strain when looking at the sides of the monitor, but it can also feel a bit overwhelming for some people.

The LCD version is down to $700 from a normal price of $1,000. This is the first time I’ve ever seen this particular monitor drop this low, so it’s a better time than ever to grab one.
