Top companies hiring for Christmas 2024

by Laura Holden

All you want for Christmas…

…is a job you’ll love.

If the top thing on your Christmas list this year is to find something special, we’re here to help. Whether you’re looking for a seasonal side hustle to earn some extra cash, or taking the next step in your career, you’ve come to the right place to start your search.

So without further ado, here are the top companies hiring this Christmas – and the roles they have on offer.

Amazon

Yes, you heard that right. Amazon, the e-commerce giant (and arguably the modern day Santa) is hiring this festive season.

Famous for its fast delivery service and a blessing for last minute Christmas shoppers, the online retailer is the gift that keeps on giving. And the company is looking for seasonal staff to help with the busiest (and most wonderful) time of the year.

Think you’ve got what it takes to join Amazon’s team? Apply now.

Roles in demand:

Three reasons to work at Amazon include:

  • You can get extra pay for overtime and night shifts
  • Up to 10% discount on your Amazon orders (to make your Christmas shopping easier)
  • Free hot drinks and snacks at work to keep you going

Location: Throughout the UK

Costa

As much as we loved ice latte season, nothing says winter is coming* like a hot cup of coffee.

And what are Christmas shoppers in need of most when the highstreet is giving ‘festive chaos’? A caffeine fix, obviously.

Costa is hiring right now for seasonal staff, including Christmas Temporary Baristas across the country.  And who knows? If you’re lucky, you may even be able to turn your temp role into a permanent one.

Roles in demand:

Three reasons to work for Costa include:

  • Free drinks and 50% off food when you’re at work
  • A smart pension that is matched up to 10%
  • Access to the Costa Financial Support Fund to help you keep your finances healthy

Location: Throughout the UK

Boots

If there’s one retailer that’s renowned for its Christmas gift promotions – it’s Boots.

Now one of the largest retailers in the UK, the company sells everything from health and beauty products to classic (and festive) meal deals.

It’s looking to bolster its seasonal staff with Christmas Customer Service Assistants who think they can spread Christmas cheer to stressed out shoppers.

Apply today.

Roles in demand:

Three ‘fun facts’ about Boots include:

  • Boots was established in 1849 by John Boot
  • For a number of years the company has a lending library department known as Boots Book-Lovers’ Library
  • Boots also operates an Opticians and Pharmacy

The Works

Another retailer opening its doors to seasonal staff is The Works.

What does The Works sell (we hear you cry)? Well, pretty much everything – that’s why it’s called The Works. From toys and books to arts and crafts, it’s a place where budding artists and creatives’ dreams come true.

Whether you’re building in-store displays or advising Carol on the best sequins to use for her handmade Christmas card collection – you’ll be able to showcase your imagination and make creativity accessible to everyone.

Roles in demand:

Three reasons to work for The Works include:

  • The Works has a partnership with The National Literacy Trust
  • 25% colleague discount and double-discount events
  • The Works prides itself on being an inclusive environment, so you can express your identity freely

Location: Throughout the UK.

National Trust

National Trust welcomes many families over the festive period at their UK heritage sites.

As Europe’s largest conservation organisation, it receives over 22 million visitors a year to its protected coastlines, heritage sites and land – and the company is hiring for Christmas staff.

Whether you’re working as Father Christmas himself, or greeting guests in a service-based role, you’ll be helping people have an unforgettable time over the holidays.

Roles in demand:

Three reasons to work for National Trust include:

  • Five paid volunteer days per year
  • 20% discount in National Trust shops and cafes
  • Free entry to National Trust places for you, a guest and your children (under 18), so you can enjoy some seasonal family days out too

Location: Throughout the UK.
