Job Description
Description of Job Duty:
Function as the primary career and professional development liaison for the College of Emerging and Integrative Studies (CEIS); act as the main point of contact for CEIS students seeking career guidance across all majors; work with local businesses to cultivate internship opportunities and maintain a comprehensive database of employers; assist students with professional readiness skills; utilize community partnerships to advocate for student placement; and participate in networking and recruiting events.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Act as an in-house career center representative for CEIS students. Engage in meaningful conversations with students across all majors (Communication, Interdisciplinary Studies, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, and Professional Studies) to discuss how their degree aligns with their personal interests and career goals. Assist students in building professional readiness by reviewing and helping them write resumes, CVs, and cover letters. Conduct coaching on interview techniques, soft skills, and workplace expectations. Work actively with local businesses and community partners to identify, build, and foster internship and employment opportunities. Create and maintain a comprehensive, cross-referenced database of places to work and intern for all majors within the college. Utilize the college’s local Chamber of Commerce membership to network, advocate for the university, and build collaborative partnerships between the community and Tennessee Tech. Ability to work independently with efficiency and effectiveness to track student progress, coordinate meetings, and align student interests with external opportunities. Travel is required as needed for networking, business visits, and other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Driving for recruitment and program representation is required frequently.
Work Hours:
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.

Salary:
Level P1, Grade 7.
Benefits Information:
Benefits include the accumulation of two vacation days per month and one sick leave day per month, and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and one year relevant experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with efficiency and effectiveness. Experience working with customers, clients, or advising students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience advising college-level students or working in career development, recruitment, or human resources. Knowledge of resume building, interview coaching, and soft-skills training. Familiarity with the academic disciplines of Communication, Interdisciplinary Studies, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, and/or Professional Studies. Proficiency in software such as MS Office Suite and database management.
