As part of the University College, Office of Student Employment, this position will work with Indiana University (IU) Indy departments, other potential employers and the IU Indy neighborhood to market the impact of students as valuable employees. Increase the number of IU Indy students working on and near campus. Serve as contact person for all on-campus employers and supervisors of students to assist with hiring, training and supervising of student employees. Develop and administer the employer related components of a student employment initiatives.
Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Identifies/recruits and communicates with a network of employers to offer job opportunities to students, increasing the quality of student employment experiences available and promoting IU Indy students to employers as a workforce stream.
- Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates ongoing support services and resources for student supervisors through coaching, training and consulting. Services and resources include guidance throughout entire cycle of employing IU Indy students: planning and development, recruiting, hiring, orienting and training, performance management, separation, and engagement.
- Delivers individual and group employment and professionalism advising services to students through appointments and presentations.
- Coordinates the employer presenters for the Student Employment course and may Teach/co-teach the credit bearing course each semester.
- Plans manages, and recruits on and off-campus employers for annual Part-Time Job Fair hosted by the Office of Student Employment.
- Coordinates all logistics of all employer related events relating to job opportunities.
- Recruits on campus and local employers based on type, size and location of event.
- Coordinates the off-campus employer job approvals within an online posting system to ensure off campus positions offer a wide range of skill development opportunities for students in part-time experiences.
- Provides focused information and training to employers on the creation of job descriptions which adequately convey job duties while accentuating skill development and/or transferable skills associated with each job opportunity. These skills should align with IU Indianapolis Principles of Undergraduate Learning. This includes supervision of 1 student employee to assist with the process.
- Builds relationships with on-campus employers and supervisors to increase hiring and enhance supervision of IU Indy student employees.
- Conducts outreach to supervisors to research employer needs, gather information related to student employment on campus, and market events and initiatives.
- Designs, delivers, and evaluates campus-wide training and employee development opportunities for student supervisors through innovative means and utilizing best practices in curriculum development and training evaluation.
- Coordinates for the Office of Student Employment campus efforts in Student Employee Appreciation. Provide focused information and resources to campus entities and employers on the value of continuous appreciation with student workers.
- Develops and maintains a process for recognition through the Office of Student Employment for continuous recognition.
- Provides specific communication to employers to increase awareness of and boost student employee recognition and appreciation.
- Services and resources include guidance on the value of hiring IU Indy students, employer partnership opportunities, recruitment opportunities and employment opportunities with employers.
General Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and markets on-campus recruitment events to connect students with potential employers.
- Assists with managing relationships with employers and alumni through regular communication.
- Assists with implementing large-scale and/or off-campus events and participates in planning, employer relations, student marketing, event execution, and post-event evaluation.
- Helps coordinate the logistics and scheduling of information sessions, on-campus interviews, class presentations, and networking events hosted by the career center, featuring alumni and employer representatives.
- Oversees the online job and internship posting process and makes critical decisions during the review process to ensure all postings adhere to office and campus policies.
- Interprets and enforces policies pertinent to third-party recruiting and other employment conditions.
- Reports and analyzes recruiting data for detailed, annual evaluation.
- Meets regularly with colleagues to assist with analyzing recruitment trends and plan employer relations strategies that enhance existing relationships and identify new opportunities.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years in employer relations, career consulting, or related field.
Preferred
- 1 year relevant experience.
- Experience in marketing, supervision, job development and training.
- 2 years experience in Higher Education, student services, job development, or marketing.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
