Marriott Bonvoy fans have a lot of options when visiting America’s 50th state: Hawaii has nearly three dozen properties where visitors can redeem or earn Marriott Bonvoy points.

Within the portfolio, travelers will find a range of hotels and resorts at different price points. Some options are on the beach, others in high-rises and all tied to the Marriott Bonvoy family representing many of its 30-plus brands.

These are some of the best Marriott hotels in Hawaii, including a few Marriott Vacation Club properties. You may discover new properties you weren’t familiar with and others that have long been considered the best Marriott resorts in Hawaii.

The best Marriott properties in Hawaii

Best Oahu Marriott hotels

Waikiki Beach is known to host a long roster of hotels where you can earn and redeem points including some of the best Marriotts in Hawaii.

1. The Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki

Lovingly referred to as the “Pink Palace of the Pacific,” The Royal Hawaiian is one of the oldest hotels on Waikiki and has hosted plenty of celebrities and dignitaries.

Divided between a modern and historic tower, this waterfront hotel benefits from beautiful pools, plenty of history (be sure to take one of the free historic tours) and a famous bakery, the Royal Hawaiian Bakery.

2. Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach

If you’re looking for that familiar white tea scent for which Westin is known, this beachfront Westin brings plenty of pomp and circumstance as its neighbor the Pink Palace.

This was the first hotel on Waikiki, and it continues its prominence today with beautiful rocking chairs on the porch. It also has easy beachfront access, a busy swimming pool and a club lounge with epic sunset views.

3. The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach

These spacious rooms, suites and multi-bedroom accommodations offer all-ocean-facing views and access to exceptional dining and shopping. It is also home to Waikiki’s two highest infinity swimming pools.

While the hotel isn’t on the beach, the walk isn’t far. This is one of the top properties in Waikiki.

4. Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club

For members of Marriott’s Vacation Club, this property has villas with one to three bedrooms, a half hour from Honolulu.

With a quieter beach than Waikiki, swaying palms surrounding pools, and residential accommodations with kitchens and living areas, this resort is ideal for self-sufficient families.

Best Kauai Marriott hotels

Kauai is nicknamed the “Garden Isle,” because of its lush rainforest and beautiful cliffs leading to untouched beaches. This is the oldest of the Hawaiian islands, but it is also home to many new and beautiful resorts.

5. The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas

Not only does this property come with the brand elements of Westin, but it also delivers studio and villa accommodation options for those who need more space.

Even better, this property has no resort fees, but offers pools, beach access and watersport activities. It’s a great option for families.

6. Marriott’s Kauai Beach Club

Close to Kalapaki Beach, this property features condo-style accommodations with one or two bedrooms, which are also part of Marriott’s Vacation Club.

Visitors can enjoy activities or watersports on the beach or in the 26,000-square-foot pool. The best part is that this property doesn’t charge a resort fee.

Best Maui Marriott hotels

Maui is a popular destination for those looking for sunny resorts and it was the setting in the first season of HBO’s “The White Lotus.” This island has some of the best resorts in Hawaii.

7. The Ritz-Carlton Kapalua

This hotel isn’t on the beach. Instead, guests have to walk down the hill to reach the craggy shoreline, which sets this place apart from the soft sand of Oahu’s Waikiki Beach.

The Ritz-Carlton’s signature elegance and service standards are top-notch at this resort, which is surrounded by a golf course and lush grounds. Its sparkling swimming pools make it popular with families and couples seeking romance, too.

8. Wailea Beach Resort Marriott Maui

Home to the longest waterslide in the state, this family-friendly resort seeks to please guests of all ages. The resort has five swimming pools, floating cabanas and an evening luau show.

An adults-only wellness area and pool are new to the resort. There are now also ground-floor guest rooms (known as the Sundeck Collection) that open to large garden terraces leading to the beach and pools.

Best Big Island Marriott hotels

The volcanoes and beaches on the island of Hawaii (also known as the Big Island) draw visitors from near and far. It offers a different vibe than the urban feeling of Oahu.

9. Mauna Kea Beach Resort, an Autograph Collection

This property was originally developed by Laurance S. Rockefeller as the first resort on the Big Island. It has a beautiful beachfront, watersports, cultural activities and great dining.

Even better, the resort is home to an exceptional collection of Asia-Pacific art. If you want a free sneak peek, the property has a live cam that you can view from home.

10. Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

Another beachfront gem from Marriott, the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa has three pools, a waterslide, fish ponds, easy beachfront access and three nine-hole golf courses. It’s hard to get bored here, but for those who need a break, they can find plenty of relaxation beneath a palm tree.

The historical markers and walking trails around the property also help guests learn about the local culture.

How to earn Marriott Bonvoy points

With so many Marriott resorts in Hawaii, it can be hard to choose which one to visit first. You’ll need a hearty Marriott Bonvoy points balance to make it happen. Here are some of the best ways to top off a Bonvoy points account before planning a trip to paradise.

  • Book Marriott stays. Members receive 10 points per dollar spent on most hotel bookings, although a few brands qualify for 5 points per dollar spent. This doesn’t include the bonus points you’ll earn as an elite member (as much as 75% more points for top Titanium and Ambassador Elite members).

  • Take advantage of transfer partners. If you’re a United elite member, you can take advantage of United’s RewardsPlus program, which allows you to transfer miles to points at a 1:1 ratio. You can also transfer points from credit card programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards to Bonvoy on a 1:1 basis or from American Express Membership Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy on a 2:3 basis.

  • Add a Marriott credit card to your wallet. There are plenty of Marriott co-branded credit cards that bulk up a Marriott points balance through frequent spending, stays at Marriott properties and plump welcome bonuses for those who meet certain spending thresholds. Some cards, like the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card, also offer bonus points for spending at places like restaurants and supermarkets — in this case, 4 points per dollar on up to $15,000 in spending per year.

The best Marriott in Hawaii

Certainly a matter of personal taste, the best properties in Hawaii range in price, size and style. There is something for visitors looking for relaxation and Marriott Bonvoy loyalty at the best resort in Hawaii. Whether seeking luxury, laid-back elegance, the best Marriott Vacation Club in Hawaii or a historic property, the Aloha State doesn’t disappoint.
