Airlines are issuing travel waivers for flights to the Caribbean, allowing passengers to change their itineraries for free. Remember that if an airline cancels your flight, your ticket is eligible for a full cash refund. Here’s a look at how some major US airlines are reacting:

American Airlines

American is allowing passengers traveling through the Caribbean between October 25 and November 1 to rebook their flights to or from airports affected by the storm with no change fee. All changes must be booked by November 1, and travel must take place within one year of the original ticket date. Travelers must rebook in the same cabin and city pairs as their original ticket.

The affected airports are: Boscobel, Jamaica (OCJ); George Town, Bahamas (GGT); Holguin, Cuba (HOG); Kingston, Jamaica (KIN); Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ); Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (PLS); Santiago de Cuba, Cuba (SCU); and South Caicos, Turks and Caicos Islands (XSC).

Delta Air Lines

Travelers scheduled to fly with Delta to, from, or through one of the following airports between October 25 and 30 can rebook their tickets in the same cabin class for travel by November 2, and Delta will waive any difference in fare. The affected airports are: Kingston, Jamaica (KIN); Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ); and Providenciales, Turks & Caicos (PLS).

United Airlines

According to United’s Hurricane Melissa policy, passengers traveling to or from affected airports between October 25 and 31 can reschedule their trip with no change fees or fare differences. Rebooked flights must depart between October 23, 2025 and November 7, 2025, between the original cities, and new tickets must be in the same fare class.

The affected airports are: Grand Cayman (GCM); Montego Bay (MBJ); Nassau (NAS); and Providenciales (PLS).

The carrier is also allowing travelers with flights to Bermuda between October 3 and November 2 to reschedule without paying change fees or fare differences. New flights must depart between October 28, 2025 and November 9, 2025.

Southwest Airlines

Fliers heading to or from Montego Bay, Jamaica with Southwest between October 25 and 30 can reschedule their flights without paying a change in airfare. Travel must occur within 14 days of the original airfare, be between the same cities, and in the same cabin class.

JetBlue

Travelers flying with JetBlue to or from Providenciales, Turks and Caicos (PLS), from October 28 through October 30 can cancel or rebook their flights without paying change fees or differences in fares. New travel must occur by November 5, 2025.
