With an estimated 24 million inhabitants, Mexico City is vast. But when it comes to tourism, the city feels quite small—much of the hotel development is concentrated in a few boroughs, like Polanco, Condesa, and Roma Norte (though you should definitely travel outside of these to see more of the city).
For luxury accommodations and boutique shopping, base yourself in Polanco. For restored mansions with strong cultural and arts programming, Condesa, Roma Norte, and Juárez are ideal. And for a central location along the jacaranda-lined Paseo de la Reforma—where parks mingle with the city’s grandest boulevard—choose a stay near Reforma.
