Apollo Global Management has strengthened its European presence with the appointment of two senior policy and government affairs executives.
The alternatives giant has appointed Huw van Steenis as partner and European economic and policy strategist, while Sarah Jenkins has joined the firm as managing director and head of government affairs for Europe.
Both van Steenis and Jenkins will be based in Apollo’s London office, the firm’s European headquarters. The pair bring experience across the region as New York-headquartered Apollo continues to expand its European footprint.
The firm’s funds have committed more than $60bn (£44.8bn) to investments and assets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Van Steenis most recently served as vice-chair of Oliver Wyman. Prior to that, he was a senior adviser to the chief executive of UBS and to the Bank of England’s then governor, Mark Carney.
Jenkins will join Apollo from CPP Investments, where she led public affairs across Europe. Before that, she worked in the UK government, including at HM Treasury and the Department for Business, as well as in the European Parliament.

Van Steenis and Jenkins will join Apollo in August. The firm manages $1.03tn in total assets under management.
