European alternatives manager Arrow Global has appointed Enrico Bertagna as chief executive of a division of its newly-launched insurance arm, Arrow Global Insurance (AGI).
Bertagna will lead Arrow MGA Solutions, which is focused on developing and overseeing Arrow’s managing general agent (MGA) partnerships.
The division will support AGI with its strategy of building specialist, non-catastrophe insurance capabilities, including after-the-event insurance, contingent and transactional risks, credit risks and surety products, in markets that are often underserved by traditional insurers.
The €125bn (£108.3bn) alternatives manager launched AGI in March this year as an extension of its investment platform, which is focused on private credit and real estate.
AGI’s platform includes Toremis Specialty, which is a managing general agent focused on legal and transactional risks, and Halldora Re, its reinsurer rated A- by AM Best and supported by institutional capital, “providing risk-bearing capacity at scale”.
At the time of AGI’s launch, Dan Adams, managing director and head of insurance at Arrow, told Alternative Credit Investor that specialty insurance is not something investors can easily access, and that there is a gap in the market.
Bertagna joins from Howden, where he served as managing director of Bowood Europe, the group’s specialist binding authority and MGA division.

Prior to this, he worked at Zurich, leading the insurer’s global MGA strategy, including as global head of MGA solutions at Zurich Global Ventures and global head of the MGA network.
He also spent more than two decades at Lloyd’s in senior European and international market development roles.
“Specialist insurance markets value complexity, underwriting discipline and local relationships, creating attractive opportunities for our investors,” said Zach Lewy, chief executive and chief investment officer of Arrow Global Group. “Enrico’s experience across MGA distribution, international insurance markets and platform development strengthens our ability to scale AGI as a differentiated insurance business.”
“AGI combines underwriting expertise, institutional capital and Arrow’s established origination capabilities through a differentiated specialty insurance platform,” Bertagna said. “I am excited to lead Arrow MGA Solutions as it expands partnerships and specialist underwriting capabilities across continental Europe.”
