In February, I landed my first role as a junior paraplanner, progressing steadily since. This year brought many firsts – my debut article for Money Marketing in May and attendance at financial planning conferences.
The key lesson? Just put yourself out there. From securing my first job to speaking at conferences and writing articles, opportunities came from taking the initiative.
For those unsure where to begin, joining communities like The Paraplanner Club or NextGen Planners offers mentorship and networking. I aim to attend more events, relishing the chance to meet new people and explore innovative approaches.
Ending the year with the CF8 long-term care insurance exam, I anticipate a momentum shift into 2024. Considerations for AF exams and the pursuit of advanced diplomas and chartered status lie ahead.
Looking to 2024, my goal is to inch closer to becoming an adviser. Whether participating in client meetings or honing technical skills as a paraplanner, every step counts.
To maintain momentum, I’ll allocate more time for general training. Initially voracious for webinars and articles, I acknowledge the need to uphold this commitment amidst the demands of work and commute.
In essence, 2023 taught me that seizing opportunities begins with putting yourself out there, and as I move into the new year, this mantra will guide my journey towards professional growth and achievement.
