A former head of legal from JP Morgan Asset Management’s (JPAM) global special situations business has joined legal firm Akin in its corporate finance practice.
Tehrani joins Akin’s London office as senior counsel in the corporate finance division, strengthening the firm’s capital solutions platform in Europe. In his new role, he will work with Akin’s global finance, corporate and restructuring partners.

He was previously legal head for JPAM’s global special situations business, a platform focused on special situations and capital opportunities investments. He was at the business for 15 years, and prior to that, he worked in private practice at Simpson Thacher and Debevoise.
He has over 20 years of experience advising sponsors, asset managers, banks and investment teams on a wide range of debt and special situations transactions across the UK, US, EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Tehrani said: “After more than a decade working on the commercial side, I saw real opportunities to improve how financings are structured on the legal side, particularly bespoke private credit deals that require creative debt and equity solutions.
“Akin’s depth in liability management and restructuring felt like the right fit for me to give clients an edge because understanding what can go wrong is critical to structuring transactions correctly from the start.”
