How does the deal work?
The Groupon is from Affordable World, an online budget-vacation travel agency that makes packages for international trips. Affordable World is currently having a sale on its Thailand package for trips taken in 2023. But Groupon has the hook-up with even more discounts if you buy the packages through them, including for dates in 2024. You need to pick whether you’re going to take off from New York City (JFK) or Los Angeles (LAX). Then you need to pick from two package options, both for the same amount of days but different locations within Thailand. Finally, you need to nail down your departure date. Depending on your previous choices, you will see different prices on packages for different dates. At the time of this writing, there are two package options for $1,099 from LAX, both leaving late November 2023 and two other ones from JFK for Nov. 30, 2023, at the same price (multiple people can buy the same package, so there should still be plenty of Groupons to go around). Outside of that, there are a number of dates and packages available for $1,199.

There will be a lot of opportunities to do upgrades in hotels like suites and optional tours during the trip, like a landmark of Bangkok tour with a boat ride (from $45 per person) or doing the Elephant World Sanctuary and the Bridge over River Kwai tour with lunch (from $90 per person). None of these activities will be included, but you’ll have the option to get them once you’re there if you’d like.

Some important details
The Groupon is only applicable as advertised if two people buy one each. This means you need to take someone with you who you’ll be sharing the hotel with, so they need to purchase the same package as you for you to get that price. Otherwise, you will get charged some hefty fees to go solo.

Is this a good deal?
Considering that just the cheapest flight on Google Flights from JFK to Bangkok, Thailand, for Nov. 30, 2023, for 10 days is $1,257, it’s safe to say this is a great deal—not to mention you get all the planning and hotel booking already taken care of for you. The food, sightseeing, and tour guide are all icing on the cake. The only problem is that the dates are not very flexible. While there are multiple options, if you need to fly a day or two before or after, you will not be able to take advantage of this deal.
