Job Description
The Continuing Education Career Navigator serves as a
primary connector between Continuing Education (CE) programs, adult learners, and community partners. This role focuses on recruiting,
advising, and supporting adult learners who face barriers to education and employment. The Navigator builds strong community and employer
partnerships to create clear pathways for upskilling, credential attainment, career placement, and transition into appropriate education or
training programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience advising or supporting adult
learners, or underserved populations. - Ability to provide academic/career navigation, manage documentation, and maintain
confidentiality. - Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with
standard office technology and software. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage deadlines and workload.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, responsive service and supporting positive student experiences and outcomes.
- Ability to
travel throughout the EICC service area and neighboring counties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in continuing
education, workforce development, reentry services, or community-based programs. - Knowledge of GAP tuition assistance, financial aid
resources, or student funding processes. - Experience supporting apprenticeship programs or related documentation.
- Familiarity with student information systems or data tracking tools.
- Experience building community, employer, or workforce
partnerships.
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard
office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing
cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Typical Duties and
Responsibilities
Student Advising & Navigation
- Provide individualized academic and career coaching to CE students from
initial enrollment through program completion and post-completion placement. - Advise students enrolled in online and in-person CE
programs, including course selection, academic planning, and alignment with career pathways. - Conduct career and employability
assessments to support informed pathway selection and workforce readiness. - Monitor student progress and intervene proactively to
address academic, personal, or logistical barriers to persistence and completion. - Assist students in identifying, applying for, and
completing requirements for GAP tuition assistance and other funding sources, ensuring timely access to financial support that promotes
enrollment, retention, and program completion. - Assist the Apprenticeship Program Manager with required paperwork, documentation,
and record-keeping for apprenticeship students, ensuring accurate enrollment, compliance, and timely progression through apprenticeship
programs.
Workforce & Reentry Development
- Collaborate with workforce agencies, employers, and external partners and
organizations to support job placement, credential stacking, and career advancement. - Facilitate student transitions from CE
programs to employment, apprenticeships, additional training opportunities or credit-bearing academic programs.
Outreach &
Partnerships
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners including community-based organizations, workforce
development agencies, reentry programs, and employers. - Develop and sustain recruitment pipelines for underserved populations
through partner referrals and targeted outreach. - Represent CE programs at community events, job fairs, orientations, and workforce
meetings.
Workshops, Programming & Collaboration
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions on college readiness, career
planning, employability skills, and financial aid awareness. - Collaborate closely with CE faculty, program managers, and staff to
ensure smooth transitions and student support.
Data & Reporting
- Track student participation, progress, referrals,
retention, and outcomes using data systems. - Prepare regular reports on engagement, completion, employment placement, and
transitions to inform program improvement. - Perform other duties as assigned in support of CE and workforce initiatives.
