DESCRIPTION:
Develops and implements efficient and effective student recruitment, retention, and completion initiatives for career and technical education (AS, CCERT and PSAV) programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Partners with A.S. Degree and Certificate seeking students to help them identify and select appropriate courses for their career path and educational goals. Tracks progress of students through reports, queries, degree audits and follow-up contacts.
2. Assists students with educational and career planning by providing career and occupational information about related A.S. Degree and Certificate programs; makes appropriate referrals to Career Development Center
3. Collaborates with Student Affairs staff, Associate Deans, Program Managers, Faculty and staff in related areas to identify and address barriers to student success.
4. Works with Program Managers and Associate Deans to provide accurate program information to College staff, including Student Affairs colleagues who work in recruiting, admissions, advising and registration functions.
5. Acts as a liaison between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to facilitate and enhance student recruitment, advising, registration, retention and program completion.
6. Assists the Student Affairs Recruiting and Admissions Office as well as the Departments with recruitment activities such as information sessions, decision days, workforce fairs, etc. May be the primary organizer of recruiting events such as open houses.
7. Participates in college, state and regional staff development activities and meetings to enhance assigned A.S. Degree and Certificate programs.
8. Implements strategies within the School of Career and Technical Education to achieve Perkins Performance Measures (Improving Student Academic Skills, Technical Skills, Program Completion, Placement, Retention, Nontraditional Enrollments, and Non-traditional Completion)
9. Enters and retrieves data from computer in order to support, advise and register students as well as track their progress towards completion of Certificates, A.S. Degrees and Vocational Certificates.
10. Coordinates Workforce Central Florida or related government-sponsored initiatives that affect students in related degrees and certificates
11. Coordinates admissions for related limited access programs.
12. Researches retention strategies; implements and evaluates pilot retention programs under direction of supervisor.
13. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
2. One year of experience working with students in a high school or postsecondary institution.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.
2. Knowledge of career and technical education programs.
3. Experience with grants projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
2. Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
3. Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
4. Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.
5. Excellent computer skills in a Windows based environment, including Microsoft Office 365 skills.
6. Ability to work independently, initiating, developing, and implementing programs.
7. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
8. Ability to work efficiently, effectively, and accurately without close supervision.
9. Knowledge of the community college philosophy and system of higher education.
10. Knowledge of student retention resources and research.
11. Committed to working in a multi-cultural environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Works in an office environment.
2. Works in the community for related recruiting activities which may require some evening and weekend activities.
3. May travel to different campus locations, trainings, and community-based events.
