Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Career and Academic Advising, the Director of Career and Academic Advising plays a key role in the
delivery of the full range of services supporting law students and alumni in their career and academic development. The Director provides
significant input into the overall strategy of the Office of Career & Academic Advising, which provides service to residential &
hybrid JD students as well as residential and online graduate students. In addition to meeting 1-on-1 with students, the Director leads the
development of multiple programs in support of student success.
Duties/Responsibilities
Strategic/Operational
Planning (10%)
- In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, set career and academic advising strategic vision/plan in
accordance with the law school’s priorities; develop strategies for all law school student categories including residential and hybrid JD
students, residential and online graduate students, and alumni. - Develop new services and programs for students and alumni, with a
specific focus on the hybrid student population and students with an interest in public service. - Work with the employer outreach
team to develop strategies for increasing student employment opportunities - Serve as primary liaison to external organizations,
including Equal Justice Works, Skadden Fellowship, Intellectual Property Owners Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association,
and similar organizations.
Individual Career & Academic Counseling and Student Outreach (50%)
- Provide
individual counseling on academic and job search strategies to all student cohorts - Assist students in developing job search
strategies: develop action plans and identify experiences that reflect competencies required for a position. - Identify experience,
interests, and skills as they relate to various legal careers - Assist students in preparing professional documents and application
materials; conduct student mock interviews and networking to expand student skill development - In collaboration with the Student Life
team, serve as partner to student groups, working with them on programming for the year and ensure that student leaders are kept apprised of
opportunities.
Program Development & Workshop Planning and Execution (30%)
- Co-teach 1-credit “Legal
Profession” course to residential (Fall) and hybrid (Summer) 1L students - Develop and deliver career and professional development
programs for each student cohort, with a specific focus on the hybrid student population and students with an interest in public service
careers - Administer the Loan Repayment Assistance Program, Student Professional Development Fund, and similar
programs - Develop and execute a clerkship program.
Administration and Data Gathering (10%)
- Assist
with gathering and maintaining student data and information. Maintain data integrity and help to compile annual employment outcomes required
by ABA, NALP, and others. - Assist in developing and executing protocols surrounding data management and office functions using the
12Twenty System - Input data accurately into 12Twenty CRM system
- Collaborate with Admissions, Alumni Affairs, Academic
Affairs, Students Life, and other law school departments; other offices to deliver the highest quality service to students.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience
- Must be able to use independent
judgement and discretion. - Requires Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. JD and/or other advanced professional degree strongly
preferred. - Requires 5+ years legal practice, career counseling or legal recruiting experience.
Knowledge, Skills
& Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of nationwide market for law school graduates, including both attorney and non-attorney
career paths. - Requires superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with highly motivated and
professionally successful student body, employers, faculty, and professional staff. - Must be able to use independent judgement and
discretion. - Must be able to create an inclusive environment, encourage valuing of persons from different backgrounds and promoting a
law school atmosphere that assures equitable treatment for all persons. - Must be comfortable adapting to technology and open to
learning new technological solutions, including the use of AI.
Other Requirements:
- Position is full-time
onsite in Concord, NH.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Career Services CRM systems such as
12Twenty or Symplicity - Prior experience counseling professionals in career related matters
- Prior experience working as an
attorney

Compensation Pay Range:
$54,990.00 – $98,150.00
The pay range for this position is listed above. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications,
