Job Summary
Design and expand Work-Based Learning (WBL)
programming using Career and Technical Education
(CTE) pathways as a framework. Develop Work-Based Learning initiatives for students that
create valuable hands-on learning opportunities to
bridge the gap between classroom education and practical real-world experiences. Ensure
programming adheres to local, state, and federal
regulations, as well as, educational requirements, industry standards and best
practices.
Essential Functions
Coordinate Work-Based Learning initiatives that align with Career and Technical (CTE)
standards. Work collaboratively with DMACC Career
Academies, Continuing Education, DMACC Business Resources (DBR) and business and industry
partners.
Develop and maintain
relationships with employers and industry experts to foster a network and enrich regional Work-Based
Learning opportunities. Connect
internship opportunities such as Iowa Learns between our business & industry partners and local
schools.
Provide direction in (CTE)
recruitment efforts in partnership with DMACC’s faculty and staff to establish development and
implementation of existing and future
Work-Based Learning initiatives. Assist DMACC (CTE) faculty in development and implementation of
Work-Based Learning experiences and
competitions into their teaching practices and curriculum. Collaborate with K-12 educators, industry
leaders, and DMACC faculty and staff to
identify goals and map current Work-Based Learning practices and identify gaps.
Design and
expand Professional Development (PD)
experiences for (CTE) educators. Provide educators opportunities to connect to local businesses to
better understand the regional economy,
workforce needs, and tangible steps to implement and/or expand Work-Based Learning into their
schools’ districts District Career and
Academic Plan (DCAP).
Develop and maintain quarterly reports.
Perform other duties as
assigned.
Required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. and three years of experience in program recruitment, career
services, admissions,
training and development, or related area in an educational setting OR Associate’s degree and five years of experience
in program
recruitment, career services, admissions, training and development, or related area in an educational
setting. - Demonstrate ability
to plan, implement and evaluate events and activities. - Ability to communicate effectively
orally and in writing and to prepare and
deliver public presentations. - Knowledge of current college educational and student services
procedures and
practices. - Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain
professional working
relationships with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds. - Knowledge of current software
applications. - Experience working with high school populations.
- Experience with working with business &
industry. - Experience in developing new programs in an educational setting.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Community college experience.
- Knowledge of career awareness, exploration, and planning strategies,
tools, and systems. - Large group event planning and implementation experience.
- Experience developing and delivering new
initiatives. - Knowledge and experience in program evaluation and data management.
