The Position

The Dean of Workforce Development
provides visionary, strategic, and operational leadership for the institution’s workforce portfolio, with primary oversight of workforce
credit and non-credit programs, state-funded workforce grant initiatives, and the Strengthening Community Colleges Training grant. Reporting
to the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, this position serves as a key member of the College’s academic
leadership team. The Dean drives a culture and responsiveness to rapidly evolving labor market demands ensuring the workforce programs
offered are employer informed and align with high-demand industries. Through strong partnerships with employers, government agencies,
workforce boards, and community-based organizations, the Dean ensures that programming reflects real-time workforce demands and contributes
to regional economic development strategies. The Dean supports the College’s regional and national reputation as a leader among community
colleges.

What You
Will Do

  1. Provides collaborative, team-based leadership for workforce development programs by addressing
    departmental, divisional, and institutional priorities through regular engagement with instructors, staff, administration, and external
    partners; oversees enrollment, advising, credential pathways, and student support services within workforce programs.
  2. Provides
    leadership and oversight for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of workforce development programs, including credit
    and non-credit offerings, apprenticeships, customized training, and industry-recognized credentials, ensuring alignment with labor market
    demand, state requirements, accreditation standards, and employer needs.
  3. Builds and sustains strong partnerships with employers,
    workforce boards, labor organizations, economic development agencies, and community partners to support program relevance, work-based
    learning, internships, apprenticeships, job placement, and continuous improvement.
  4. Encourages and guides instructors and staff to
    assess workforce programs, credentials, and instructional methods using data- and evidence-informed practices to improve student learning,
    completion, employment outcomes, and return on investment for students and employers.
  5. Provides analysis and advocacy for workforce
    development resource needs and allocations, including facilities, equipment, staffing, and technology; coordinates, reviews, and approves
    departmental budgets within the context of College fiscal sustainability and grant compliance.
  6. Oversees grant development,
    implementation, and compliance related to workforce initiatives, including local, state, federal, and private funding sources; ensures
    effective operations management, reporting, and sustainability of grant-funded programs.
  7. Ensures consistency with College policies
    and procedures in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluation, and professional development of faculty and staff; serves as a primary
    resource for supervision, coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  8. Oversees the development and implementation of
    divisional procedures and criteria for the evaluation of professional performance; reviews departmental evaluations and makes
    recommendations to the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs regarding retention, promotion, and other personnel
    actions.
  9. Responds to instructors and staff concerns related to student conduct and workforce program operations; oversees and
    participates in academic grievance processes and responds to student and employer concerns in accordance with College policies and
    procedures.
  10. Stays current with workforce trends, emerging technologies, industry standards, and innovative teaching and training
    methodologies.
  11. Represents workforce development programs in College-wide initiatives, community events, and regional or national
    forums; supports special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  12. Performs related duties, projects, and initiatives as
    assigned.

The Successful Candidate Must Have

  1. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited
    higher education institution in workforce development, business, education, applied sciences, or a closely related field.
  2. Seven
    years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, workforce development, or a related field, including at least four years
    in an academic or workforce leadership role demonstrating strategic planning, program development, and change management.
  3. At least
    three years of experience teaching or providing instructional leadership in postsecondary, workforce, or adult education
    settings.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of workforce education systems, including curriculum development, industry credentials,
    apprenticeships, non-credit and credit pathways, and employer engagement.
  5. Evidence of effective interpersonal communication,
    collaboration, problem solving, public speaking, and conflict resolution skills, with a commitment to continuous professional
    growth.
  6. Four years of management and/or supervisory experience, including oversight of programs, departments, or initiatives with
    institution-wide or community-wide impact.
  7. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data systems used for
    enrollment, outcomes tracking, reporting, and grant management; ability to analyze data and produce detailed reports and
    presentations.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and access; experience supporting diverse students, faculty, staff, and
    community partners; and a strong commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college.

Even Better If You
Have

  1. Doctoral degree.
  2. Experience teaching or leading workforce or career and technical education programs
    at a community college.
  3. Experience with grant-funded workforce initiatives, employer-sponsored training, or regional workforce
    strategies.
  4. Bilingual – English/Spanish.
