Position Overview
Working closely with the HEART Program and Career Engagement, the successful candidate will assist in the delivery and oversight of a comprehensive career exploration and coaching program that builds collaborative efforts across campus and that provides high-quality career education to the Texas A&M University-Kingsville community. Under direction, plans, organizes, implements and maintains participant data for academic success and career exploration activities in targeted STEM majors consistent with the goals and objectives of the HEART Project. Advises prospective and current students during all stages of career engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Operations & Program Coordination
- Manage daily program operations, establishing efficient procedures and workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Oversee departmental processes and customer service standards; monitor compliance and implement continuous process improvements.
- Coordinate and execute meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, and special events to support program objectives.
- Maintain effective communication with campus and external partners through regular meetings, updates, and collaboration efforts.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student employees, peer mentors, and program support staff.
Program Delivery & Student Engagement
- Provide individualized career advising to prospective and current students, including career exploration, goal setting, and job search strategies.
- Deliver coaching using CliftonStrengths and other career development tools to support student growth and informed decision-making.
- Design and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions that build career readiness, leadership skills, and professional competencies.
- Develop and maintain student-focused and stakeholder-facing materials that promote program services and engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate career development competencies into academic curricula, assignments, and co-curricular activities.
- Stay current on labor market trends, employer needs, and occupational data to ensure relevant and impactful advising and programming.
Assessment, Reporting & Strategic Initiatives
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans, goals, and evaluation metrics for career engagement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate participant data and track program outcomes to support reporting requirements and continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare operational reports, program summaries, and presentations for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research and contribute to the development of grant applications, white papers, and program proposals.

Required Qualifications
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience – Three years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 5 years of related experience consistent with program coordination, student advising, and cross-campus collaboration
- Certified Global CliftonStrengths Coach
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of – Understanding of career development models and job search best practices. Knowledge of online career management platforms like Handshake, LinkedIn, and Indeed.
- Skills – Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills. Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines while also working effectively as a member of a team and engaging with campus partners.
- Ability to – Ability to recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student employees. A strong orientation toward supporting student development, career readiness, and successful workforce integration.
Other Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Some lifting/carrying of classroom/presentation materials (specify weight limitations specific to program needs i.e. ability to lift, carry, load or unload up to 30 lbs. of instructional materials)
- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines

Additional Information
A federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will not pay this fee. If immigration sponsorship may be required for employment, consult with private immigration counsel, at the individual’s expense, is recommended to determine whether the individual’s current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University-Kingsville subject to this fee.
In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbott issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Accordingly, if sponsorship for employment visa status is required now or in the future, this moratorium may affect the university’s ability to employ the selected final candidate. TAMUK will adhere to applicable regulations regarding visa opportunities.
