About this opportunity:

The Assistant Director, Career Coach opportunity at Ball State University offers a dynamic leadership role dedicated to empowering students in their career development and post-graduate success. This position works closely with students and alumni to provide individualized coaching, develop career readiness programming, and build strong connections with employers and campus partners.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

What you’ll do and what you’ll bring:

Position Function

Implement all aspects of the KEY Careers Freshman and Sophomore exploration program; coordinate programs and services for students, alumni and faculty in selected academic departments and liaison areas; coordinate career planning and job search programs and activities; provide career advising services and educational programs for students and alumni through individual appointments and group presentations and discussion; support employer development and recruitment activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Implement functions relating to the KEY Careers program.

2. Serve as a liaison to and provide career development and job search programs for students, alumni and faculty in assigned colleges; support other departmental liaisons as needed.

3. Provide career advising for students and alumni.

4. Serve as the liaison to other University departments as assigned, providing programs and information.

5. Support departmental employer relations and recruitment activities including career fairs, networking events, information sessions, etc.

6. Develop and present departmental programs and workshops for career planning and exploration, professional development and job search strategies.

7. Serve on the Program Coordinating Group to plan and implement departmental programs; assess learning outcomes.

8. Supervise student career assistants or graduate assistants as assigned.

9. Participate in regularly scheduled meetings to manage programming, services, calendars, policies and procedures and other administrative details required by the Career Center.

10. Represent the Career Center on appropriate university committees.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area from an accredited institution.

  • Experience working one on one with individuals, engaging with groups, and monitoring and impacting program results.

  • Demonstrated skill in public speaking, advising, professional writing, program design, project organization and management, time management; skill in use of Microsoft Office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

  • Experience in higher education setting such as counseling, academic advising, residence life, admissions or career services; supervisory experience.

  • Ability to use new media for online service delivery.
